Meet Ken Bogard | Founder of Know Honesty, Author (come September 2024), and Expert EOS Implementer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ken Bogard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ken, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Know Honesty is helping to change how the world communicates.
There are three key areas we focus on and create impact.
1. Eliminating the divide between ourselves and everyone else
In a time in which we are more electronically connected then ever before, most people feel more disconnected than we ever have. We create divides, often times unknowingly, and our process helps eliminate those divides.
2. Becoming Masterful Communicators
We can articulate messages, thoughts, and feelings better than any species on the planet, yet we won’t. We have the gift to communicate precisely what we feel and what we want yet we don’t. We have screwed up our ability to communicate, and our organization is working to reverse that trend.
3. Connect with anyone
The last 15-20 years there has been a growing trend of authenticity, vulnerability, unique you, true self, etc… The trend primarily focuses on self. This is great and needed. However, this trend is solely focused on “me, myself, and I”. What this has meant is that people continually attempt to design a world for 1, focusing on self, yet this world is designed for 8 billion people. We are losing our ability to connect and be open to all the lives that walk this earth.
We are changing that.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Know Honesty is helping people become more Open and Honest. In other words we help organizations, teams, and individuals crack the code on communication.
Three offerings
1. Pursuit of Honesty Assessment: Measures your honesty and openness
2. Workshops and Talks
3. Know Honesty book (out Sept 2024)
Moving from a startup to a viable business means finding the right message, right partners, right clients, and right offering, all of which are not easy. Although the story is still being written over each of these topics, we are overcoming them. Because of our ability to be open and honest as a team we are really crafting an incredible organization. The challenges don’t seem too daunting when the team is fully committed and knows what direction to row in.
A few lessons along our journey:
Lesson – Partners or venders need to match your core values. I.e. our old tech partner was not a fit and now we have someone totally aligned with our culture.
Lesson – Why go it alone when you can share in the journey with others. I.e. Grace becoming co-founder, not strictly an employee.
Lesson – The world doesn’t want another book. I.e. the book lol, then the assessment that actually measures people’s honesty and openness.
Lesson – Let go of some of it or expect to hang in the same place for a long time. I.e. we moved Grace to Integrator, added Bloom Social as our social media specialist, adding Tiffany as an EA, and are using a publisher. Letting go equaled growth.
If there is one thing for a reader to know about our brand… we are going to change how the world communicates.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend is visiting…
1. Let’s go to a place where story happens: Celebration Cinema (North for me)
2. Hopcat for some unique eats and great discussion over the movie
3. Check up on events that are taking place – at Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place
4. Olive’s in Eastown for lunch or dinner
5. A walk on the hilly walkway of Townsend park
6. Another movie at Celebration Cinema
7. Breakfast at Anna’s House, any of them
8. Grand Rapids Grand Prix and push the limits of go-karts
9. Stella’s for a jalapeno cheddar burger
10. Let’s chill on front porch and breath in some good ‘ol West Michigan air
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Grace Gavin (VanDenBrink) – Grace was my executive assistant who quickly developed into a more prominent Integrator role, to now Co-Founder. Crazy fast growth with a brilliant mind and heart of gold.
Because of her candor and willingness to be open and honest with me, we have developed an unbreakable business partnership and are on the cusp of changing how the world communicates.
I very much consider her my mentor.
