We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Revere and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristin, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Gd Coast Doulas is the first Certified B Corporation in our category in the world. We certified in 2019 and are proud to blend profit and purpose. We support local businesses by hiring local vendors for printing, client gifts, furniture, and supplies.

We pride ourselves on giving back to the community financially and with volunteer time. We have held a diaper drive for the last nine years benefitting Nestling Diaper Bank and Great Start Parent Coalition. We collected over 13,000 diapers with partnered businesses in 2023. We give 2% of our net profits to causes serving low-income women and children. Some examples of giving include Clinica Santa Maria, Corewell Foundation, Mama Glow Foundation, St. Mary’s Foundation, and more.

We also believe in being good for the environment. Gold Coast is a carbon-neutral business by offsetting our emissions.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Gold Coast Doulas serves families from conception through age five with the addition of our sleep consulting services. We offer in-person and virtual classes and services. We listened to our clients and adapted to what they needed. When our classes had to move to virtual during the pandemic, we created an online course called Becoming A Mother that offered support during an overwhelming and isolating time. This allowed us to support clients across the world. We expanded to include Northern and Southwest Michigan for overnight postpartum doula and infant care support as we kept getting calls
asking if we covered those areas. Getting through the pandemic was not easy and I watched many doula agencies close down during that time. We received two grants that allowed us to keep our office space and continue to support our clients.

I am most proud of getting my book, “Supported: Your Guide to Birth and Baby” published through Praeclarus Press this year. It was a two-year labor of love. Alyssa Veneklase co-wrote the book with me and offered her wisdom as a certified sleep consultant. It is available in audiobook, , paperback, and hardcover versions to meet the needs of our readers. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a proud Michigander and love showing off Grand Rapids to friends. I would take them downtown to walk along the river and stop and get a Madcap coffee. We would get some tapas at San Chez and I love to show off our art museum. We have some beautiful parks and festivals going on year-round.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shoutout to my team of doulas and educators. They are the heart of Gold Coast Doulas and are devoted to offering judgment-free support to the families we serve during such an important time in their lives. Gold Coast would not exist without my amazing team.
