We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Janay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of advice that I disagree with is you have to go to college to become successful. I don’t believe in that. I believe that if you’re consistent with your goals/craft you will make it far. With the platforms we have today, it’s a lot more easier to promote your brand and get yourself out there to more people! Networking is everything honestly. I can say that I am a 12X Published Entrepreneur/Media Personality/5X Published Fashion Model without going to college. I also was able to have my business co-sponsor a HBCU scholarship for a young lady from Chicago Public High School. With that being said, college is not really a necessity to me but I will say if you feel it in your mind/spirit you should go to college… then go!

What should our readers know about your business?
I got to where I am today by having discipline and being consistent about my goals . I am a multi-published entrepreneur, owner of Cold Piece Boutique, Heavy Flexin Apparel & Media, and my newest venture that’s under development “Heavy Flexin Eatery”! I’m also a published Fashion & Beauty Model and a brand ambassador for well known beauty brand “i•Envy By Kiss”! I have content partnerships with magazines such as VoyageATL and VoyageMichigan! I’ve interviewed well known celebrities such as R&B Singer Mario, Shamari Devoe from Blaque (90s R&B Girl Group) and BMF Actress Sidney Mitchell. The journey wasn’t easy and I didn’t expect to be. I would never change the way that my entrepreneurial life has went so far for anything because I believe I was it was destined for me! Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s so many spots to choose from actually. I recommend going to Top Golf. As for food, I love a lot of different restaurants.. I wouldn’t even have a first spot to go to I would just go to everything for the most part with whoever’s visiting.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I would like to give a shoutout to the most high! Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am at today. I will also like to give a shoutout to the people that supported my businesses and the ones that give me advice about what I should do whether it’s personal/business.
