Meet Manny Wilson | Podcast Host and Radio Personality

We had the good fortune of connecting with Manny Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Manny, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Any success I’ve had has come from routinely practicing discipline, consistentcy and building relationships with others. This doesn’t only apply to my work of Podcasting but in everyday life. I try to remain consistent and discipline in what I eat, how much and when. I’m discipline with my time and routine because it helps me with maximizing my productivity when it’s time to get things done. The older I get, the more I realize how much strength is in a solid routine.
As far as connecting with people, I love connecting with others in the field of podcasting and radio. Good people in general, regardless of their their profession are always fun to connect with in any aspect. I’ve learned just as much from people outside of my industry (Podcasting) as those who are heavily involved. I’ve developed genuine friendships simply from being open and accepting to all people despite their career.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the things I’m most proud of is the consistency I’ve put toward building a sports podcast company from scratch. It hasn’t been easy but anything worth having rarely ever comes easy especially if it’ll be sustainable through time.
There’s been situations I had no podcasting equipment and needed to record/produce episodes, time periods of driving 2 hours on a weekly basis to record podcast episodes, I’d work 14hr shifts, turnaround to prep, record, edit and promote my latest episode. I’ve lost sleep, money and wasted valuable time all in trying to push forward through my six year journey of Podcasting. However, I don’t like to complain about the experiences because through the setbacks, there were many lessons that helped me evolve into where I am now as a man, podcast host, producer and radio personality.
Not many people get to a satisfied level of success without sacrificing so I try to embrace the journey. The good, bad, lack of resources, plenty of resources, money or no money. Circumstances are forever changing and everything works in devine order therefore I’m constantly mindful of being present. When it’s all said and done, I want anyone who has followed me over the years or just now hearing about me to understand they are able to do anything they want in this world if you seriously dedicate yourself to accomplishing that goal.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now living in Chicago, This week long trip requires a BIG appetite! I could make a week long itenerary piling up multiple food places to visit each day. As you can tell by now, food plays a big part in this trip. A few of my favorites in the itenerary would be the iconic Portillos, Uncle Remus Saucy Fried Chicken, Pequod’s Pizza, El Rincon De Fabio, Bronzeville Winery and Batter and Berries breakfast.
As far as activities, I personally love musuems so the Musuem of Science and Industry would 1000% be in the iteniary at some point. Also, I’d plan on attending a professional sports game. What’s cool about the sports venues in Chicago is they’re in different areas of the city so first time visitors are able to see all the fun things to do in different neighborhoods. Another option that’s less expensive would be to watch a game at the newly designed Draft Kings Sports Bar in Wriglyville. Chicago sports are not the best at this time but the fans are always diehard supporters when it’s time for any team to compete.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Unfortunately, the way my mind works, I cannot remember every single person who has helped shape me into the person I am today! In addition, I know if I start listing people, there’ll be a few that will be left out accidentally.
God has truly put amazing people in my life and in many different areas of my life that have impacted me in needed ways. From Family, friends, associates, business partners, to complete strangers, I’ve been very fortunate to pick up valuable advice and experiences from diverse perspectives. However, I would not be who I am today without the sacrifices of my mother. She showed me what hard work looks like and most of all, she initially gave me inspiration and the belief that I am able to do anything I want in this world regardless of the the challenges that follow.
