We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle McFarland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our success, at its core, comes down to our deep commitment to our brides and our community. We’ve always believed that finding the perfect wedding dress is not just about the dress itself but about creating a memorable and meaningful experience. It’s about understanding the unique stories and dreams of each bride we serve. We’re there for them not only in the big moments, helping them celebrate the joys of wedding planning, but also during challenging times. Our success is all about building trust and creating genuine connections. We’re not just a store; we’re part of their journey, helping to make it as special as it should be. It’s this genuine care and dedication that keeps our brides coming back and sharing their experiences with others, and that’s what truly drives our success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our success has been a result of a dedicated team, including long-time staff members, and our affiliation with the Better Bridal Group. It hasn’t always been easy, but during challenging times, I turn to my mentors and peers for guidance, which has helped us overcome obstacles and continue to grow. The lessons we’ve learned include the importance of listening to our brides and being a beacon of light in their lives. We want the world to know that The Wedding Shoppe is not just a bridal store; it’s a place where dreams are realized, and we’re honored to be part of our brides’ special moments.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If a friend were visiting Metro Detroit, we’d start in downtown Detroit, where they could experience the heart of the city, visit iconic landmarks like Hart Plaza and the Renaissance Center, and catch a glimpse of the Canadian skyline across the Detroit River. Next, we’d head to Royal Oak, the city where I grew up, to stroll through its downtown, explore boutique shops, and enjoy a meal at one of the many fantastic restaurants. To showcase Michigan’s natural beauty, we’d take a road trip up north to the breathtaking Sleeping Bear Dunes, where they’d enjoy Lake Michigan and the rolling sand dunes. It’s a journey that combines the energy of the city, the nostalgia of my hometown, and the awe-inspiring landscapes of Michigan’s great outdoors.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Wedding Shoppe’s success is profoundly influenced by the love and support of the Better Bridal Group’s bridal store members. Their impact on my life, both professionally and personally, has been immeasurable over the years.
