We had the good fortune of connecting with Mr Tunez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mr Tunez, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Genuine hard work and perseverance. never letting anyone one get you down and telling you ‘no’

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is that I can fit in any genre of music. I’m most proud the fact that people from all ages tell me that they love my music, especially my song “Kickback’. I got here mostly because of my mom believing in me and supporting me. Also having some good friends that kept everything real with me and supported me. It was not easy and still not easy. there are a lot of days I feel I should give up but my friends and family help keep me going. The biggest thing I’ve learned is to keep pushing through and push even harder on the worst days. I’ve had some of my highest highs and my lowest lows on this journey with lots of debates and talk of whether or not its worth it. The highs out weigh the lows and just the thought of me looking back when I’m older and not having the regret that I didn’t give it my all. I’ve also had to learn that you can’t please everyone and not everyone is going to like everything you do. To make music that I love and not care what others think. I’ve also learner to Never get complacent and think that I’ve done it all or that I can’t learn anything else. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new and its important take every opportunity. I want the world to that my brand is for everyone. I plan to make a song in every genre and that everyone can find one song they’ll like. I also stand for a general good message, I’m not with the substance abuse, or promoting just bad behavior. I want to make music that if someone listens to it would influence them to do and feel good, and not be the reason or influence that made someone commit a crime or ruin their lives. Lastly I want people to know that no matter where you came from or what struggles you had to get through, that its worth it to persevere through.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If someone came to Detroit, the best spots to eat are definitely a Coney! my personal favorite is Detroit One Coney Island that’s open 24 hours. For a fancy dinner I would have to go to Texas De Brazil or Vincente’s Cuban Cuisine. I would have to take them to Willis Show Bar after for some live music with great cocktails. then after could hit a club like like the Annex or Tin Roof which are right next to ford field and Comerica Park. I also really enjoy the arcade bar and some of the other adult gaming places. Detroit has some of the best views with the river walk and a lot of great music all over, its always a vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out all my music teachers coming up who helped give me the foundation I have. I would also like to thank Jashar Rawlings aka JASHAR, Steven Pascoe of Aquilina Audio and Ian “Eon Zero” O’harris of Zero Gravity productions for giving me the current tips, tools and support to help evolve me into the artist I am today. Lastly I would like to dedicate this to my mom who has supported me and believed in me from the begging that I could find success in music.
