We had the good fortune of connecting with Najee Billups and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Najee, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by all the relentless people in the world. People who are persistent and determined always motivate me. The drive it gives me to see life from another perspective and choose to either see that I should be grateful or that I want more is always a highlight. Consistently setting goals and being persistent and determined is what I am inspired by.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Professionally I am still climbing up the ladder within the medical field and also creatively. Climbing the ladder to where I want to be hasn’t been easy but I am still climbing. Tenacity is how most of my challenges have been overcome. Knowing that I’m working towards something that is far beyond what I can imagine for myself always gives me the drive to keep going. In 2017 however, I started a raw hair extension company. Obtaining extensions from a specific temple in Jaipur India, free of PPD and all over processing that hair extensions go through for people with sensitive skin and scalp conditions that aren’t able to used processed hair. Deciding to stop selling hair while in nursing school and focus on my wholesale idea hasn’t been easy. However, I understand that an idea with no works, IS DEAD. ❤️

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots in my city are
Bowdies, Brunch House , Wolfgang Puck, Chez Olga, & Tasty Gyro Coney Island. Studio park is always a great time in the summer. These days my life is pretty chill so a cool place to hang that’s a hidden gem would be Nightwatch Lounge & the AC hotel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother, for raising me within a home where confidence and fearlessness has always been exuded.
