Meet Queashar L. Halliburton | Insurance Agent, Publisher, Author & Success Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Queashar L. Halliburton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Queashar L., how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Establishing clear boundaries between your work and personal life is essential. Work/life balance was not an issue at the beginning of my career because I wanted to work hard, learn the insurance business, network, and lay the foundation for a long-lasting, profitable career.
As I gained more work experience midway through my career, I learned the importance of setting boundaries because I started feeling burned out. I had to learn that I was not working in an on-call position. I had to take time to remove myself from this bad habit of overworking myself. Creating boundaries looked like not accepting work calls or responding to emails outside my schedule, setting specific work hours, and sticking to them. I also had to create time to rest, enjoy life, build relationships, and discover hobbies and self-care activities, including exercise. I had to learn to work smarter and not harder.
Creating the perfect balance means that you must know your value and define what success looks like for you at different stages in your career. As we mature and gain more life and work experience, we must communicate the importance of personal and career satisfaction in our relationships and careers. We must learn to refuse extra projects when we cannot handle them.
If we no longer enjoy life and our careers, we must evaluate, assess, and improve our situation. We must set clear boundaries, communicate our non-negotiables, and create the life we are meant to live. We must intentionally create a new way of living to reap success in our mind, body, and soul.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m still working in corporate America as an insurance agent for a non-profit in southeastern MI as I build my publishing, coaching, and speaking business. Purpose came knocking after being in corporate America for over two decades, and I answered. Purpose led me to accomplish a life-long goal of becoming an author. After documenting my authorship journey on social media, I established QUEASHAR DETROIT PUBLISHING, LLC ® to help aspiring authors share their stories and monetize their genius by publishing a signature nonfiction book based on their expertise.
QUEASHAR DETROIT PUBLISHING, LLC ® empowers professional women to build their legacy through the art of publishing nonfiction books. We assist authors throughout book publishing, marketing, and launching. We help clients build an information-based business focusing on the subject matter from their books. The most exciting thing about my specialty is that I help women create literary works they can monetize for a lifetime based on their existing skills and knowledge.
The most significant issues I dealt with throughout my journey were procrastination, imposter syndrome, and information hoarding. I never felt I knew enough to start; I kept stalling because my business was imperfect. I have learned throughout my entrepreneurship journey that you don’t have to wait for things to be perfect before you leap. Get started and perfect your craft as you grow and learn. We may never get started if we wait until the time is right. Do your best! Move forward and keep improving as you grow.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, I would ensure that my friend visits during a festive time when things are happening in downtown Detroit. I would book them in a suite in downtown with a great view. The week would be filled with Detroit attractions like Eastern Market, Motown Museum, and a sporting event. We can also attend a concert, play, or comedy show and visit a few great restaurants in the metropolitan area with live music. Trust me; they would thoroughly enjoy their stay as we are chauffeured in style, only VIP for my best friend!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out to women in corporate America who feel stuck because they have aspirations outside the workplace. They have yet to accomplish their goals due to needing to learn how to get started with their dreams. Many have put their hopes and dreams on the back burner due to taking care of their families or difficult situations. I want to encourage them to take time for themselves and pursue their hidden dreams. It’s not too late! Go for it. Research what you want to do, assess your skillset, tally your value, and accomplish your personal goals. Someone is waiting for your gift to change the trajectory of their life. You can do it! I’m rooting for you!
