Hi Sena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I became a co-founder of Pepapp—a period tracker app—after several years of working in various companies. While working as a project manager at Pepapp, I realized there was a unique opportunity to address the real challenges that women face every day. Witnessing firsthand how a well-designed, user-focused solution could significantly impact women’s lives, I felt ready to take on a larger role and contribute meaningfully to our community. My decision to become a co-founder was driven by a passion to tackle women’s issues and empower our users through innovative technology

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pepapp isn’t just a period tracker app—it’s a community and a mission to empower women. What sets us apart is our deep understanding of the unique challenges women face, a perspective honed during my time as a project manager at Pepapp before I stepped into a co-founder role. Witnessing firsthand how a user-focused solution can transform lives, I was driven to scale our impact.

Our journey wasn’t easy. We encountered a competitive market, technical hurdles, and the complexities of meeting regulatory requirements—all while ensuring our platform genuinely addressed women’s needs. Overcoming these challenges required resilience, a dedicated team, and the willingness to pivot based on real user feedback.

Through these experiences, I’ve learned that true innovation stems from empathy and persistence. I want the world to know that Pepapp is built on a foundation of authenticity, community, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact on women’s health. Our story is one of perseverance, passion, and the belief that technology can serve as a powerful tool for change.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Istanbul is a city where ancient history meets modern vibrancy, and there’s so much to explore. I’d recommend taking in the timeless beauty of landmarks like Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the atmospheric Basilica Cistern, which offer a glimpse into the city’s rich past. For a sensory overload, wander through the bustling Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar, where the sights, sounds, and smells create an unforgettable experience. To capture the modern pulse of Istanbul, stroll down Istiklal Street near Taksim Square and discover contemporary art at Istanbul Modern, or relax in trendy cafes and boutiques in Karaköy and Balat. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a scenic Bosphorus while dining at a quite peaceful fish restaurant along Arnavutköy region, and for a change of pace, explore the vibrant neighborhoods of Kadıköy and Moda on the Asian side. Finally, treat yourself to a traditional Turkish bath, a quintessential cultural experience that perfectly blends relaxation with history. Each of these experiences captures a unique facet of Istanbul, ensuring that every moment spent in the city is memorable.

I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to all the incredible people who have supported and inspired me along this journey. I also want to recognize the community of women who have shared their experiences and challenges with us. Your feedback not only fueled my passion for creating a user-focused solution but also reminded me every day why this mission is so important. I’m deeply grateful to my husband as well; his unwavering support, encouragement, and the courage he provides with every decision have been a constant source of strength. Finally, I’m thankful for the mentors and colleagues from my earlier professional experiences who encouraged me to pursue my vision and take that leap into co-founding Pepapp. Every bit of support has helped shape my path, and I couldn’t have come this far without you all.
