Meet SHACAI. | Multidimensional Artist & Entertainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with SHACAI. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SHACAI., what do you attribute your success to?
My creativity. Working in the entertainment industry, we all can sing, we all can act, and we all can dance. It’s important to me to separate myself, and I do that through my creativity. Creativity is a mindset for me. It fuels my thoughts, my passions & the way I navigate this industry. I think essentially it’s important to remember the fact that the sky is the limit when it comes to this. It’s almost like — My creativity is endless. It’s like an ever-flowing river of opportunity. Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s also important to share my creativity with others. A lot of my success has come from displaying my talents in a collaborative environment. It’s important to me to be open to receive other people’s creative mindsets, as well.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a multi-dimensional artist who has excelled in vocal performance, theatrical production and performance, and music recording, composition, and production. Since releasing my first single, “Bright Idea”, I have performed on national stages, such as singing our national anthem for the NBA Detroit Pistons & G-League Motor City Cruise, performing a song I co-wrote and produced for The New York Mets, competed in various competitions, featured in 3 episodes of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s television series “BMF”, as well as adding several upcoming TV and film releases to my resume. I am a direct descendant of Mahalia Jackson and proud of my history and legacy that continues to grow as an entertainer. My passion is to allow my creativity to flow and to pour into all walks of life. My mission is to spread love and cultivate change through creating and displaying my art, all while being versatile and honest with myself and others. Along the way, I subscribed to using better practices of health and wellness. I learned and continue to learn as an artist it is crucial to tend to our gardens because there is a season for everything. There’s a season to plant and a season to rest. We should be content and aware when the seasons of our success change. This journey has not always been easy, but God has given me a persevering and tenacious spirit. Like Nipsey Hussle said, “The marathon continues.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to take them to a coney island, a legit Detroit CLASSIC. Depending on the time of the year, I would take them downtown to catch a Pistons game at Little Caesar’s Arena, where I sang for Mother’s Day 2021. Grabbing a bite to eat from my uncle’s food truck, “Freddie B’s Bibs & Ribs” is always on the queue; the best BBQ in the city. It’s a must to have People’s Records visit on the itinerary to collect some souvenir vinyl. 220 Merrill on Saturdays for the finest brunch and refreshments. If we have time, we could also visit the Detroit Institute of Arts, Motown Museum, or the Charles H Wright Museum for history lesson. Go to Riverside Park for a nice stroll. Last, but certainly not least, after church on Sundays at First Praise, we’d have to visit Rono’s Caribbean Family Dining on W. McNichols!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m blessed to be surrounded by love and support that continues to grow, but I have to shout out my two biggest supporters. My only sister and manager, Shawnique Pittman, has continued to encourage me and be my backbone. She is a boss with a bright mentality and a force to be reckoned with. I could never forget my late brother Lance, a faithful ride-or-die. He forever encouraged me to be true to myself, even if it went against the grain. Both of them have been a pivotal part of my journey. I know Shawnique will always be a phone call away & Lance will forever be a part of me in whatever I do.
