We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheila Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheila, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success I would say would have to be understanding professionalism and determination.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the proud Owner of Bend The Trend Fashions. Bend The Trend Fashions is a very trendy and competitive online boutique. After years of research, networking, and sleepless nights BTTF officially was open for business May 2021. Being an entrepreneur in the fashion world is very challenging at times and is very hard work, from marketing strategies, accurate accounting, to making sure you stay up to speed with the fashion world. There definitely were times that I wanted to throw the towel in and shut down the website down, due to lack of Brand exposure and lack of shoppers. After refusing to accept project failure, I went in harder on how to grow the popularity and expand on building the brand. Bend The Trend Fashions has had record breaking sales within the last year. I am so very excited to see this store grow. My dream was to be able to provide the latest fashions at lower prices. Understanding that everyone can’t afford a big price tag. It breaks my heart to think a woman cannot look fabulous and feel great about herself all because of an extreme industry mark up. My goal is to provide the latest good quality fashions for all occasions at the lowest prices, for women of all shapes and, sizes Xs-4X. Bend The Trend Fashions is looking to expand in the near future, adding a sophisticated men’s line and a children’s line of latest styles. Bend The Trend Fashions has been featured in Impact Detroit, has been invited to participate in 6 local fashion shows and 1 Fashion show out of Texas. Has been invited on 12 different Pod Cast, and has gained 1k followers on Facebook in just 30days. I am so very grateful for my ambition, passion and willing to keep pushing forward. Having a career in the corporate world for over 26 years has been really helpful in utilizing every possible tool for the best strategy in building this brand. I will continue to work hard for the benefit of the community, uplifting women, and being an example of what exercising your worth looks like.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow!! Michigan has some real hidden gems. I guess I would definitely have to start with the beautiful City of Detroit. Being a huge fan of educational museums I definitely would start with downtown Detroit and visit some of the museums. Maybe do some site seeing along the Riverwalk by foot or scooter rental. Most definitely have to experience dinner at Highlands Detroit on the 71st floor of the Renaissance Center.. We would definitely take a stroll in the beautiful revamped Dequindre Cut. I’m big on all cultural of foods. I definitely would drive over to Fork in Nigeria for a bowl Egusi Soup and FuFu some of the best in town. I would also make sure to visit Makimoto in Auburn Hills, Mi. for the freshess most delicious sushi I ever had right after a fun game of indoor golf at Top golf and maybe a little shopping at Great Lakes crossing in Auburn Hills mi. We could take a cooking class in Roral Oak or maybe do a photoshoot over at the Good Day Selfie Museum in Ferndale, MI. Depending on the time of year and season. Rochester Hills offers an amazing Christmas light tour through downtown Rochester Hills to the Detroit Zoo and down to Downtown Detroit campus Martius for some ice skating or picture taking with ice sculptures or maybe a hot cup of cocoa. There’s so many exciting things to see and do.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There really is a village behind the successful person I have become today, but if I had to start a trail of Shoutout’s I must start with my two heroes, my mother Mrs. Lila Davis & my Father Mr. James A. Davis. They structured a lifestyle for me that showed me what hard work would accomplish. What financial literacy was, the strong importance in education, the significance of multiple streams of income and how important family love is.
