We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefani Flack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stefani, what makes you happy? Why?
Flowers! The power of flowers, both for myself and for others, really brings me so much joy. There’s something incredibly fun and fulfilling about flowers, whether I’m arranging them myself or helping others discover their own love for flowers. Giving people the ability to choose which flowers they want or how they want to arrange them. For the most part people love flowers, some people prefer plants, both make me happy.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve always had a love for flowers since I was young and helping my Mom plant flowers in our garden. I went to school for film and was working in the TV/Film industry for almost 13 years. My flower dreams stayed around in between each movie gig. The freelance life became a little too tough to navigate after COVID so I decided to switch it up. I decided to take the flowers more seriously and then I saw a vintage camper online and that’s where Bundle & Bunch started.
The camper brings a bit of magic to the whole thing. It helps catch people’s eyes and makes them want to stop by. And then there’s our build-your-own bouquet bar! It’s all about getting your hands in there and making something yours. I also love to help out if someone isn’t so sure. I find usually once you let them get going they always get the hang of it. Our bouquet bars at bridal showers, baby showers, and birthday parties are super popular as a fun activity as well.
There are always challenges with any business. Bundle & Bunch is a bit like running a food truck, but with flowers. If we don’t sell them, they’ll go bad. To combat this, we dry out all of our unused flowers and turn them into dried flower pieces. So even if we don’t sell everything fresh, nothing goes to waste. Still, it’s been a real challenge figuring out just how many fresh flowers to bring to each pop-up.
I started this journey because I believe that flowers shouldn’t just be for special occasions or fancy events—they should be for everyone, every day. My one simple mission: to bring a little extra happiness and creativity into people’s lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
These are my personal perfect day itineraries but there’s endless options – it’s so hard to choose!
Detroit: Start the day at Eastern Market, in the afternoon go to Belle Isle, grab evening drinks at Collect Bar and then dinner at Leña. Then of course end the night at a Red Wings game.
Ferndale: Walk to Red Hook for a coffee, lunch at Imperial, a pina colada at Port, play some board games at Corner Bar, then end the night at Sneakers.
Or find a park or lake in the burbs and go on a boat all day.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out to my parents for always being supportive of my never-ending career-finding journey. My friends who always show up to all of my pop-ups – no matter the location or the weather. The friends who help me write captions for my Instagram posts or film reels for me. The florist friends who tell me to stop comparing myself to other florists. My boyfriend for letting me park the camper in our driveway, and having 200 buckets around the house. And just generally being there on the good and bad days. My non-flower-related full-time job bosses who help me with estimates and tell me to charge my worth. Everyone who told me this was actually a good fun idea and I wasn’t crazy. There are so many people I credit to helping me launch this dream and I’m so grateful to them all.
