Meet Tamika Lang

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamika Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamika, how does your business help the community?
My business provides accessible training in medical trades for individuals ages 16 and up. We empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to begin rewarding healthcare careers, without the time or financial burden of a traditional two- or four-year college. By offering flexible class schedules in both the morning and evening, we support diverse learners, including working adults and parents. Our programs help students gain employment, achieve financial independence, and reduce reliance on state assistance, ultimately strengthening our local workforce and community.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I earned my nursing degree at just 21 years old, and the journey was anything but easy. I commuted daily from Michigan to Ohio to attend a fast-track nursing program at Brown Mackie College while pregnant with my first son. The program had strict attendance and academic requirements, allowing only two absences per month. I actually went into labor on a Friday during class, stayed through the lecture, drove two hours home, delivered my son on Saturday, and was back in class on Monday to take my final exam. That moment defined my mindset: nothing is a road block it’s just a hurdle. With persistence, focus, and determination, you can overcome anything.
What sets me apart is my resilience and deep commitment to helping others succeed. I’ve built my career and business on that same mindset. I want people to know that my brand isn’t just about education it’s about empowerment, second chances, and proving that no matter where you start, you can SOAR!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d kick off the week with a trip to Troy for a morning Pilates class to get energized, followed by a relaxing brunch at one of the city’s great spots. After that, we’d spend the day shopping at Somerset Collection and exploring the area. Throughout the week, I’d plan a mix of fun and relaxation, maybe checking out downtown Detroit for live music, visiting local boutiques and cafes, and hitting a spa day for some self-care.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. Despite financial challenges while I was growing up, she earned two master’s degrees, held a full-time job, and still found time to take on overtime all while raising me and my sisters. She never missed a game, a practice, or any milestone in our lives. Her drive, dedication, and unwavering support showed me that with hard work and focus, anything is possible. She’s the reason I believe in turning dreams into reality.
