Meet Tommy Erickson | Musician | Slumlord Radio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tommy Erickson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tommy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We’ll we started Slumlord as a way to pay off massive offshore gambling debts!!! Haha, actually it was a good excuse to still play music, which we enjoy, get rowdy (blow off steam after the work week!!) and open for Mini-KISS for our first gig!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think the biggest thing that has benefited us, is just showing up. Being professional and treating people the way, we would wanted to be treated. There are far more talented people out there, but being nice and easy to deal with, has landed us some pretty great gigs over the years!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Tons of great places in Grand Rapids, MI (where we are based out of). Stella’s for excellent food, booze, vibe. Great music venues: The Intersection, Pyramid Scheme (pinball too!), Tip Too Deluxe, Mulligans.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dan Flowers, who taught me how to play guitar. Not only is he a fantastic musician, but a super interesting, all-around good cat, Always had great advice not just for music, but life in general, great outlook on everything!
