We had the good fortune of connecting with Vern Springer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vern, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think for us it is the sincerity of the product. We decided long ago to focus on positives and provide what is hopefully an uplifting message.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Musician, Songwriter, performer. Have had many songs featured in films and some commercials. Have played professionally for amost 40 years. Currently, the founding member and Guitarist as well as Producer for Second Hand Mojo. We have been steadily gaining followers and playing some really great shows. The video for our latest single Good Vibes just surpassed 1 million view. For us thechallenge we faced so far has been the pandemic. After working very hard in the studio to get our first release out to the public (After Midnight EP), we were finally able to release the EP on Janary 20th 2020. If you recall the whole planet essentially shut down on the 24th. That was a tough blow and basically cost the group 2 years. That would have been easy to give it up or not continue to communicate and be productive. But we stayed in communication and all wrote and collaborated as best we could and even released a new single during the lockdown. When the stay at home ban was lifeted, we hit the ground runnng. We have now released two single off of our sophmore effort. and have also mad two videos that have done really well. SO the lesson is that if you find a way to stay the course you can really survive and thrive. Another lesson that was reinforced was don’t take anything for granted, tomorrow is not promised. And when tomorrow comes be grateful for at least that which has arrived. What would I like people to know about Second Hand Mojo? If you like music from the 60’s to through today your gonna want to stop by and stay a while.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d start with a breakfast at Bode’s Restraunt in Plymouth for some biscuits and gravy or cornbeef hash. Then we’d head on down to the Motown Museum for some history and inspiration. Might stop at Ford filed for a Lions Game. And after we would hang out in our practice facility (Mojo Dojo?) for some jamming and beers. Preferably a nice cold Second Hand Mojo GoodVibes from Canton Brew Works (Available starting April 27th).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
That list is a long one. I’d like to say the guys in Second Hand Mojo: Scott Brokaw, Chuck Riepenhoff, James Hampton, Marq “Q” Speck. Our families for supporting us. And for me personally. the guys who made me ant to play would be my Uncles and Grandfather on my mom’s side. We would have family dinners quite often on the weekend. Invariably at some poit the guitars would come out. I remeber vivdly wanting to be a part of thet group.
