We had the good fortune of connecting with Samil Molina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samil, what do you attribute your success to?
I think it’s just about being yourself and not trying to chase trends or do things that don’t come off naturally or authentically. Consistency is also important, it’s hard but the fruits from all that labor will come.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A big part of my sound comes from my approach to sampling. I’m always looking for unique and obscure samples to flip. I love digging through old records and finding hidden gems. Sometimes it takes hours of searching, but it’s so rewarding when I find it. And then the fun part is figuring out how to manipulate it up and turn it into something new and fresh.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is finding the audience for my music. It can be tough especially when there’s so much music out there competing for people’s attention. But I’ve learned that the most important thing is to stay true to myself and make the music that I love. If I can connect with even a small group of like-minded people, that’s a success.

My goal as an artist is to keep growing as a producer and to keep challenging myself creatively. I want to push the boundaries of what’s possible with sampling and beat-making. And ultimately, I want to create a body of work that I can be proud of and that will stand the test of time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my wife Joanna for being there for me through it all,
