Meet Jacob Kablak | 3D Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Kablak and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacob, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue an artistic career because it has always been something I’ve been very passionate about; I love the gift of being able to create and being able to share that with others.
However, for the longest time, I thought having an artistic career would be an unrealistic goal. You always hear the term “the struggling artist,” which was enough to scare me into wanting to try a bunch of other careers
because at the end of the day, you must be able to provide for your family.
It wasn’t until I realized how art is present in virtually every aspect of our commercial world that I came to the conclusion that an artistic/creative career was not only feasible but totally necessary—everything from the designs on cereal boxes to billboards and signs. Even the shapes and styles of the products themselves are a manifestation of someone’s creativity. I learned that so long as your art is geared toward serving some kind of commercial purpose and not just an expression of oneself, then it can be possible to have a flourishing creative career.
It’s important to note that it’s not to say you can’t express yourselves through your commercial work; I put my whole heart and soul into everything I create. It just means it must be oriented to serving the commercial needs of others.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create custom 3D Product Renderings and Animations for companies looking for high-quality and creative ways to present their products and services. My company’s name is Pterobyt (TERR-O-BITE) and what really sets us apart is the level of love and care we place into all our renderings and animations. Whether we’re creating catalog images for an already established product or exciting animations to build hype for your latest offering, you can rest assured knowing that when partnered with us, you’ll receive the highest of quality visuals professionally and on time.
It’s taken many years practicing and experimenting with 3D tools and art, and studying the principles of photorealism and animation to get to the place where I am today. The main lesson I’ve learned through this journey so far is that the learning never ceases. Above all, I am very blessed to be able to provide these services to my customers.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me, a great week in the Washington Township area involves some outdoor time mixed with some really good food. To begin with some fun activities around the park, I’d take them to Stoney Creek for a scenic bike ride around the lake. No matter the season, some fresh air is always nice.
For some food, there’s a good range between Downtown Rochester to Romeo. In Rochester, some of the best meals come from Kruse & Muer’s, hands down. Hitting up this eatery in November or December also ensures some Christmas spirit with the colorful lights. In Shelby Township, one of the greatest ways to spend a casual night out involves the corner of 22 Mile Road and Hayes. Here, you can catch a throwback film at Emagine Theater. Moving into Romeo, simply walking around the downtown area before grabbing a bite at Jayell’s BBQ or Thee Office Pub always provides an entertaining visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d say my brother, Mitchell Kablak, deserves credit here. He is also a small business owner, he owns Specialized American Woodworking (SAW), a custom cabinetry and finish carpentry business here in the metro Detroit area. We both started our separate businesses around the same time. I look to him for a lot of inspiration and motivation. When I have crazy deadlines and have to stay up well past midnight to get them done, I know he’s been there and done that too. It’s nice having someone close who you know shares similar struggles and worries and just simply helps you not feel crazy sometimes. Although our businesses are totally different, he’s in woodworking and I’m in 3D rendering and animation, we both have businesses centered around providing custom and tailor-made products which require a lot of passion to create.
