We had the good fortune of connecting with Monika Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I decided to start my own custom-made sewing business, my thought process was driven by two main factors: passion and opportunity. Firstly, I have always had a deep passion for fashion and design. Creating unique and personalized garments has been my creative outlet for as long as I can remember. I wanted to share my talent with others and make a meaningful impact in the world of fashion.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a fashion designer and photographer whose love for the creative arts is evident in my work. As a self-taught artist, I’ve embraced the journey of trial and error, constantly pushing myself to learn and grow in my craft. My passion for fashion and photography shines through in my design work and visually stunning imagery.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Omg! There’s so much to explore now in Detroit. The revitalization is amazing, and I could give a book’s worth of places to visit. However, I’ll spinkle a few of my favorites places:

1. The Detroit Institute of Arts

2. Strolling along the Detroit Riverwalk

3. Visiting the Detroit Historical Museum

4. Enjoying a good “Detroit” meal at the Detroit Eastern Market

5. A night out in the Greektown district

6. Exploring the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy

7. Experiencing music and entertainment at the Fox Theatre

8. Shopping at the trendy boutiques and stores in Midtown

9. Stuffing our faces at any of the new restaurants in downtown Detroit!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to acknowledge the incredible work of Detroit Fashion Community, a Non-Profit Fashion Organization. Their dedication to promoting fashion and giving back to the community is truly commendable. Through their initiatives and collaborations, they are making a positive impact in the fashion industry by raising awareness and creating opportunities for local communities.
