Meet Jacquelyn Schiewe | Wine Industry Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacquelyn Schiewe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacqui, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Above all, I value courtesy and old-fashioned customer service, and relationship building. It is reflective of my upbringing, of course, and affects all aspects of my business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The creation of The Wine Sellers was not my first career. I am what HR executives call a life-long learner, and that is totally true. I studied with Patrick Fegan of the Chicago Wine School, and that was my steppingstone to the industry. My previous positions in community banking and association management prepared me well for business protocol and problem solving. I often tell my clients, “I may know more about wine than you do, but there are thousands out there who know more than I do!” Challenges are ever present and continuing personal and professional development are the key. After all this time I love what I do. A visiting importer recently referred to The Wine Sellers as a business of passion and that sums it up.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Union Pier, Michigan is a quiet, charming shore community along Lake Michigan. Swimming, boating, spending time on the beach and enjoying a spectacular sunset are all possibilities. Also visiting small towns, farmer’s markets, golfing, shopping and antiquing would be on the agenda. The Terrace Room in New Buffalo’s Harbor Grand Hotel is a favorite. Additionally, Chicago is just an hour away, offering an endless opportunity for adventure.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, my clients and my vendors.
