We had the good fortune of connecting with Quince Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quince, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
Generational stability is the ultimate goal. After that, to help as many people as I can. To do my personal part in improving environmental and natural wildlife. I want us to keep moving forward, to keep doing better, and create a healthier place for future generations to thrive in.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One task at a time. It’s all anyone can do. At some point everyone is going to struggle. It’s how we handle these hardships that matter. With love, compassion, kindness, and determination, you can get through just about anything. Farming and owning a business has never, in the history of ever, been an easy task to face. You must rise to life’s challenges or admit defeat. Being an artist helps me cope with life’s challenges in a productive way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a hidden treasure all on it’s own. From Tahquamenon Falls, to Pictured Rocks there’s a breathtaking view. Lakeshore Superior Brew House and Pub is a must stop in Marquette. Never short of activities, there’s skiing of all kinds and home to Ishpeming’s Ski Hall of Fame. The Planetarium in Marquette is the only one in the whole Upper Peninsula. Mining trails, geologic treasures, museums, local history, architecture, Marquette county has it all.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My late great grandmother June was the first to inspire my love of gardening. As I started my business the farming community welcomed us with open arms and helpful suggestions. I’ve been encouraged and inspired by so many small businesses and homesteads, farmers, and photographers. It’s a diverse and creative community that I’ve truly found a home in. My biggest supports and inspiration have come from my Partner, a true muse. Rick’s Pecker Palace, Oscoca Farms, The Stanley Farm, Oregon Unknown, Miss Annette, and countless others have given me the strength and encouragement to keep going in my darkest of times.
