Meet Marta Carvajal | Fine Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marta Carvajal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marta, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Madrid, Spain. I studied Fine Arts at the university Complutense de Madrid. My wish was being a painter, but I was trained as Graphic Designer. I started working in an Educational Publishing Company , designing book covers for Elementary kids and older.
That influenced a lot now in my art work. I create series with the same concept I created those book covers. Each serie is about 15 pieces with the same concept size and materials.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Marta’s journey as an artist began at a young age, starting at the tender age of 7. She pursued her artistic education by studying Fine Arts at the University Complutense in Madrid, Spain. Since 1990, Marta has been actively painting and exhibiting her work, showcasing her talent and creativity to the world. Her artistic journey took an exciting turn when she worked as an Art Director in prestigious publishing companies in Madrid for 15 years. This experience allowed her to develop her skills in creating cohesive series of artwork, adding depth and dimension to her body of work.
As a visual artist, Marta embraces a wide range of resources and techniques, constantly exploring historic and contemporary materials. Her art is a result of her continuous study and exploration, allowing her to infuse her work with depth and meaning.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Detroit is the largest city in the midwestern state of Michigan. Near Downtown, the neoclassical Detroit Institute of Arts is famed for the Detroit Industry Murals painted by Diego Rivera, and inspired by the city’s ties to the auto industry, giving it the nickname “Motor City.” Detroit is also the birthplace of Motown Records, whose chart-topping history is on display at their original headquarters, Hitsville U.S.A.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Detroit Fine Art Breakfast Club is a group of Artist and Collectors, created by Henry Jarper, in Detroit , Michigan. We gather every Monday and we show and tell a piece of art. The audience can buy the art.
Thanks to Henry Jarper and the group, my art life in Detroit is thriving. We are an Art community with a lot of support amongst us. Always having other opportunities to create and show our art.
