We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Bigelow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Laurelow — my studio combining art and strategic branding — stemmed from a deep passion for creativity and a solid background in design for marketing.

Expressive art and purpose-driven design, while very different, share a powerful intersection that’s raising the standards of branding for businesses.

Working as part of a small team, I offer some of the widest range of services among creative agencies, from handmade drawings and paintings to comprehensive logo design and branding materials like websites, social media posts, and ads.

Integrating artistic passion directly into branding helps businesses define their identities in ways that uniquely express what matters to them, enhancing communication and engagement in person and online.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Laurelow, we specialize in bringing brands to life through artistry and strategy online and in person. What sets us apart is our commitment to creating holistic brand experiences, incorporating drawings, paintings, and murals into businesses to transform spaces into exciting atmospheres.

Our entire suite of services includes consulting, brand development, workspace art, film production, website design, and marketing content. I’m overjoyed to integrate all of these into cohesive brands.

Balancing the dual roles of artist and business owner has been demanding, but it’s a challenge I embrace with passion. One of the biggest challenges has been educating clients on the transformative power of visual storytelling through art. Demonstrating the tangible benefits of Laurelow’s approach has required clear communication and compelling presentation of my work.

I’ve learned the importance of adaptability and staying ahead of industry trends to be sure that clients receive innovative and effective solutions.

I and my quality assurance assistant are excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, transforming businesses across the United States with our unique blend of creativity and clever thinking. Thank you for supporting our journey and being a part of our story!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would blend a mix of culture, history, food, and entertainment, starting with the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), Detroit’s renowned art museum. The DIA has a vast collection of art from around the world, including Diego Rivera’s famous Detroit Industry Murals.

Next, we would stop at some sleek and charming coworking spaces, such as WeWork and Venture X Detroit, where Laurelow’s virtual office is located.

We would then enjoy a hearty brunch at The Dime Store, a popular downtown eatery known for its creative dishes.

Other Detroit museums to visit include the Detroit Historical Museum, Motown Museum, and Detroit Science Center.

After exploring Eastern Market’s unique local vendors and artists, we’d also stroll along the riverfront, taking in views of the Detroit River and Canada before enjoying the Belle Isle Park conservatory, aquarium, and nature trails of nearby Grosse Pointe.

Grosse Pointe is home to one location of my favorite Michigan-based Italian restaurant, Salvatore Scallopini, which is perfect for an elegant and flavorful dinner.

With its unmatched shops and extravagantly muraled diners like Zingerman’s Delicatessen, Ann Arbor is a fascinating city to visit as well.

But there are even more museums to visit in Dearborn! The Henry Ford Museum is dedicated to American inventors and other influential public figures. Greenfield Village offers living history — an interactive and immersive method of presenting historical events, periods, and ways of life by recreating them through activities, reenactments, and demonstrations. It even has its own restaurants, Stand 44 and A Taste of History.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the marketing agency Craft & Communicate, owned by Jen and Rich Malloy. They deserve so much recognition by helping me explore numerous branches of branding and marketing, from practical planning and creative content production to digital advertising, throughout my hands-on work for them. Their agency has been the main root of my professional growth.

I am grateful for their unwavering support and incredible learning experiences Jen and Rich have provided in a collaborative environment. Thank you, Craft & Communicate, for shaping my career and empowering me to achieve my goals!
