We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Lynn Garner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TASHA LYNN, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business honestly did not have much of a thought process. I was very frustrated with how the events industry was going in the State and quite frankly, since I knew better, I thought that I could do better by the vendors than the some event planners were doing at the time. Lots of vendors were being mistreated and there was a lot in the industry that was unfair and and I wanted to change that.
I ended up getting my LLC at 2am and diving in head first! 3 years later, I have a roster of over 1,700 absolutely rock-solid vendors and small businesses; all of which my company has worked with and helped grow their own companies. Using the motto “Know Better, Do Better”, my company has grown while growing others in the state and learning everything on my own as I go.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fishville Farms Events LLC is an events company in Southern Michigan and we have a lot that sets us apart from other similar businesses! We are the only events company in Michigan to offer free comprehensive education to small businesses vending for us or starting out on their own. We are also the only company to dedicate every single event to a community outreach donation drive with our 2 largest of the year being our Foster Care Backpack/School Supply Drive and our Shelter Pets Supply Drive. We also run the states largest Scammer Blocklist which is meant to protect small businesses from scammers in the events industry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Michigan is so diverse! I would tell my bestie to stay away from Google and the “hot-spots” and to get out into the smaller towns and villages! To really get to the culture of Michigan, you really need to hang out where the locals do! Wander the villages such as Grass Lake and Manchester! Visit the town-squares (they still exist, Stockbridge has a great one!)
Festivals all across our state are in small towns and villages and they really give you a great look at our state!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out the facebook group Mitten State Vendors & Craft Shows! That is our group of over 10K small businesses and event companies across the state of Michigan. This industry is starting to get stronger and getter all because of groups like ours!
Mitten State is a group that is dedicated to helping small businesses across Michigan grow with education and networking. We showcase safe, family-friendly events across Michigan and we also ensure to host the states largest Scammer BlockList which is aimed to protect small businesses from scammers!
Mitten State is an amazing group that is drama-free, family-friendly, scammer-safe and each and every one of it’s members are awesome people and small businesses whose goal is also to grow small business.
