We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Through my book, weekly articles, and speeches I offer people the opportunity to form New Perspectives regarding every area of their life. These New Perspectives are supported by a foundation that includes a firm grasp of the “WHY” concept, inspirational stories that provide the “How to Implement,” and an encouraging “Call to Action.”
It’s the Call to Action that provides the opportunity for each person to have a positive impact on the world by helping others based on their own unique skill sets. It’s a natural occurrence for someone who’s helping others to also be helping themselves.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m grateful that Covid ruined the successful path that my business had been on for decades both in terms of sales and profitability. I had a large drycleaning business and when Covid hit, and people began working from home, the need for our services fell off a cliff. The infrastructure costs I had invested building a brand-new production facility utilizing silicone solvent (environmentally sensitive and safe) proved to be unstainable at the new level of sales. I closed the business and was forced to re-invent myself.
I started another company realizing that I had built up wisdom and experience that could change the world and inspire people’s lives. So, I organized 115 life lessons into 9 unique stories that all fall under an umbrella of a building where people could visit to discover the answers to challenges they couldn’t solve by themselves. The life lessons and stories became my book entitled “The Answer Discovery.” My book led to an opportunity to write a weekly article for our local newspaper, The Midland Daily News, which then grew to my weekly article being published in 23 publications across the country.
Had Covid never occurred, I could have coasted into retirement with ease. Instead, I’ve discovered a new path for my destiny that provides more joy than I ever could have imagined.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Best time ever? I’d need a minimum of 4 weeks. I’d start with one week in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula which is sadly often overlooked. From mountains in the western portion, to the over 300 waterfalls, to the mining and shipping history, to the great beauty of nature, the Upper Peninsula is truly amazing. 2nd week would be spent exploring the communities near the Lake Michigan shoreline from Mackinaw City at the northern most tip of the Lower Peninsula all the way down to Stevensville. Third week would embrace the rivers and lakes of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula which is where so many of us Michiganders have created lifetime memories. I’d include the Lake Huron shoreline from the thumb area of Michigan all the way up to the tip of the mitten. 4th and final week would focus on the uniqueness of our five largest cities and five small communities that all represent the very best of what it means to be a Midwesterner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I created a “Life Enhancement Kit” that includes a letter of explanation with the first sentence reading “Everything I am and All of my success I Owe to Others.” In that same letter I share my favorite Zig Ziglar quote: “You can get everything you want in life if you just help enough OTHER people get what they want” which I’ve proven to be true my entire adult life.
The author Andy Andrews wrote three books that have driven my life forward. They are: The Butterfly Effect (How your life matters), The Traveler’s Gift (Seven Decisions that determine Personal Success), and The Noticer (Sometimes, all a person needs is a little perspective).
Lastly, I’ve had the privilege of having dozens of individuals provide me with personal mentoring. Too many names to list here, but I’ve always attempted to show my appreciation with the actions I’ve taken due to their mentoring.
