Risk & Reward: can you have one without the other?

By far, the topic that comes up most in our conversations with entrepreneurs and creatives is risk. We’ve had conversations about risks that worked out and risks that did not. We’ve seen eyes light eye sharing about career-trajectory changing risks as well as folks sigh about the risks they wish they had taken. Below, we’ve selected and shared some of those thoughtful conversations.
Ohhhhh that’s a juicy question! I believe risk is so important for 3 reasons. 1) Risk helps you become your best, authentic self. I believe deep, intense growth happens when we are not within our comfort zone. For me, some of the best decisions in my life and career happened on the other side of Brave. Taking risks is essentially betting on yourself. This is scary, because you do not know the outcome. However, when you’re passionate about whatever you’re wanting to do, just do it. We all know life is too short and life is not that serious. You can always adjust if need be, but if you never do what you want, you’ll live with regrets. I had to remind myself of this when I made a big career change from being a social worker to a nail technician. I worked as a social worker while putting myself through a manicurist program.
