Meet Carter Damaska | Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carter Damaska and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carter, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor that I can attribute to the success of my business is the community around me. Surrounding myself with people who want to see my business succeed not only motivates me as an artist, but it also drives clients into the door. I have found that having meaningful connections with your clients can harbor repeated clients and new clients alike. Having people who are excited to share my content and are proud to show others my work has been the main driving force behind my success. So thank you to my community for always pushing me further!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In such a saturated market, it can be hard to stand out as a creator. With my photography and videography, I excel in capturing who the client is, on camera. I have a very wide range of experience, from hiking onto a remote glacier in Alaska to capture a marketing brand, to capturing the small moments in weddings that most miss.
My professional journey has been exactly that, a journey. It is important to take risks, whether that means moving to Alaska from Michigan and exploring a new community, or to splurge on a new camera. Over the years I have learned that there is no “right way” to be artistic, and I think that is what makes me stand out. My work evokes emotion while remaining a timeless piece for any client, no matter the subject.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would most definitely get a cabin in the woods and enjoy the outdoors. From stargazing, to hammocking in the woods, nature is where I would be!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends are what got me off the ground. A huge thank you to my older sister for always letting me try out to photography trends and techniques with her, and always being honest with me. Thank you to my parents for encouraging me to pursue an artistic career and to always work for what I want.
