We had the good fortune of connecting with Natachia Watkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natachia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting this business was:

When I was younger I always wanted to work for PIXAR the animation company, but due to being a Division 1 basketball college athlete it was hard to put the extra work in inside of the classroom. So when I graduated I had a hard time finding a job in my field due to my lack of experience and lack of portfolio. So I said instead of working for PIXAR I will just create the next best PIXAR.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I produce various different media’s. From social media managing to different digital designs, websites, and even camera photography and videography. What sets me apart is my attention to detail, I’m okay with putting the extra time in to get the outcome that I love, even if it does mean longer nights and earlier mornings. I am most proud of building my own PC by myself, running my own business by myself and then the biggest one of them all quitting my job during the pandemic and 2-3 years later opening up my first design studio. Like I said before basketball has helped shape me and developed me to be structured and know what real hard work feels like. I tell myself all the time I would much rather due this then be in practice for 4 hours. That thought alone helps me overcome my challenges as well as knowing what’s on the other side. The unfamiliar can be scary the unknown can be scary because you’ve never been there before but its about trusting myself and embracing the process.

My main goal when it comes to my business is creating a one stop shop for business and brands by providing all my various services.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Due to my diet I usually prefer finding some type of vegan restaurant or seafood. But when I am with my friends I just stalk the menu. Usually I will go downtown Detroit and find something down there, like a PHO place or just enjoy the river walk. I honestly don’t get out that much. So when friends come we really just spend time together and try to do outdoor things if its nice out like going kayaking in Ann Arbor. Or skating somewhere local. I am very competitive so sometimes we will do something like bowling or put putting. But for the most part its really just relaxing and enjoying each other company.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, I would like to shoutout every basketball coach I had, especially in college. The rumors are true being a division 1 athlete and maintaining over a 3.0 is insanely tough. But what I tell everyone is it shaped me into who I am today. It makes the hard days not so hard. It developed my character and made me appreciate so many aspects of life. As well as my mother growing up she as well was an entrepreneur pretty much all my life. So it helps having her here for me because she has walked similar shoes. And lastly my GF, because who else would I vent to on my tough days as well as she is very creative herself so having her as my second eyes has being extremely a blessing and helpful.
