We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiran Javed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiran, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I think I’ve always had it in me. Even as a child, I found ways to turn creativity into opportunity. One of my earliest ventures was taking my mom’s unused kitchen tea towels and napkins, adding embroidery to them, and selling them around the neighborhood. That was my very first business adventure, and it really sparked something in me.
At the age of 19, I launched my own immigration consultancy. It was a huge leap at the time, but it turned out to be a great success. That company is still operating back home, which I’m very proud of. It taught me so much about leadership, responsibility, and resilience.
Moving to Canada was a major transition. It wasn’t easy to find my footing in a new country—I changed jobs multiple times and even moved between countries for a while. But throughout that time, something was missing. I missed owning something that was mine, building something from scratch.
Photography and hosting had always been passions of mine. Eventually, I decided to take a leap and offer those services publicly through social media. I honestly didn’t expect the response I got—it took off faster than I could have imagined. Before long, I had more clients than I could handle in my home studio. That’s when I knew it was time to take the next step and rent a professional space.

What should our readers know about your business?
I love colors, I love flowers, and I love creating—so whether I’m decorating a space or editing a photo on screen, it never feels like work. It’s therapy for me. That’s my happy place, and because I truly enjoy what I do, it shows in the results.

I love art—I’ve always been a creative person. For me, creativity is a form of therapy. As an Aquarius, routines have never come naturally to me; we tend to march to the beat of our own drum. That’s exactly how my business began—it gave me the freedom to be creative, explore what I love, and continually improve my skills.

This freedom led to happy clients, and within just two years of becoming a professional photographer, I received the Consumer Choice Award in my city.

But I won’t lie—it wasn’t easy. I poured my heart and soul into my work. I started from scratch and committed to learning everything thoroughly so my work could stand out from the competition. I focused on being punctual, communicating well, and making sure every client felt genuinely happy. That kind of dedication paid off.
When I expanded into wedding decorations, there were days I worked 22 hours straight—pushing myself to the brink of exhaustion. But it was the beginning, and I was determined to deliver nothing less than perfection. That mindset laid the foundation for where I am today.

Now, things are easier. I know my craft, I have the experience, and I don’t need to push as hard as I once did. But to get here, I can’t emphasize enough the two key ingredients: hard work and never giving up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
*”I’d take them to Willstead Manor, my favorite park in the heart of the Walkerville area. It has beautiful flowers and stunning architecture—truly a peaceful gem. Then, we’d head to Eastern Flavours, my absolute favorite restaurant, known for its incredible food.

Of course, I’d also take them to Nile Bazaar, a unique and charming store near Walkerville. It’s a treasure trove of ethnic delights—from Turkish rugs and Afghan emeralds to Pakistani hand-painted lamps, Italian Murano glass, German mid-century pottery, English bone china teacups, and Canadian art. It’s truly one of Windsor’s must-see stops.

And finally, I’d show them around our downtown—quiet, but lovely in its own way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely—my father. He’s been my rock and my biggest supporter from day one. As a proud Pashtun from a conservative Afghan-Pakistani background, he could have easily let cultural expectations limit me, but he never did. Instead, he gave me the freedom to dream big and the confidence to chase those dreams.

He believed in me unconditionally. When I decided to pursue higher education in Canada, he took out all his retirement savings to support me. He made sure I had the best education possible and helped me launch my very first business. That kind of support, especially for a daughter in our culture, is not something everyone is lucky enough to have. I owe so much of who I am and what I’ve achieved to my amazing father and mother.
