Meet Amanda Zelley

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Zelley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had a passion for being creative and helping others around me. I’ve been an emergency room nurse for over 10 years and over time, I’ve shared some of the highest and lowest moments in compete strangers lives. After having my children I found myself being drawn to their milestones and striving to create the most memorable experience that I could for them. My balloon creations grew and flourished with each birthday and celebration. Life is so unpredictable and I wanted to create every bit of magic not only for them, but for myself, my family and others.
My amazing husband, Andrew, having a creative mind himself, was the one to push me in the direction of starting my own business. I wanted to create balloon decor with a level of sophistication that would elevate any celebration. Shortly after we added a variety of rental pieces including floral walls and arches. That’s when Zellevated Designs LLC took off!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve always looked for creative outlets in my personal life but it wasn’t until about 5 years ago that I discovered balloon art. Over the years I would practice with designs for family and friends until one day I took a leap of faith and created Zellevated Designs.
For me, there’s honestly nothing more rewarding than seeing the way others light up when they first see my creations. Then that magic continues to unfold as their guest walk in and even days and years later when they look back at photos. I truly cherish being invited to be part of such memorable moments in others lives.
I would say my biggest challenge has been juggling work and life. Trying to find that balance is forever evolving but my number one priority will always be my children. I want them to see that you don’t always have to have all the answers to pursue your dreams. With each client that I have, I am fully committed to their event and making their vision come true. However, owning my own business also gives me the availability to make sure that I’m present for all those same important memorable moments in my own families lives. I’m beyond thankful for having that opportunity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re so fortunate to be located in Fenton where there are endless options for restaurants and entertainment all around! We’d definitely have to visit the Crust for breakfast (an amazing local bakery and restaurant) then the RailYard for lunch, especially if the whole family is with us. It’s a local food park and pub that has entertainment areas for kids and adults. The Rough Draught Coffee and Barroom is another must see! We’re fortunate enough that you can also find a Lake in almost any direction in Fenton. If we didn’t know anybody with a pontoon, we could always rent one for the day at Skipper buds off Lake Fenton. We’d also have to check in with the Fenton community center. They are frequently hosting events. For dinner we’d absolutely have to go to the Vault. Their menu is perfection. Then Uncle Rays for the best handmade ice cream around!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely could not have been successful without my husband, 3 outstanding children, my family, friends, and all my awesome clients. I have had nothing but support, especially when I’m doubting myself and I will forever be grateful for that!!
