Meet Betsy Dmitruk | Professional Organizer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Betsy Dmitruk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Betsy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I absolutely, genuinely, wholeheartedly love what I do. I love the physical act of organizing. I love that my job allows me to help people be more efficient and less overwhelmed in their homes. I love that I’ve grown professionally too. I’ve learned how to build websites and manage a team. I feel like this enthusiasm for what I do is evident and it has been such a contagious force for potential clients and employees!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting a business from the ground up, while staying home with three small children is no small feat in any circumstance. But starting a business in February 2020 without knowing about the looming pandemic presented new obstacles that I never could have seen coming. Instead of building up my organizing experience in client homes, I spent much of lockdown purchasing products and organizing every space in my own home. My business overhead doubled as an investment in my own home. It made me confident as an organizer and also led me to really feel the life-changing effects of getting an entire household organized.
When you truly believe in the power of the service you offer, it makes “selling” it so much easier because you are confident in what you’re bringing to the table.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love where we live! West Michigan has the best of so many worlds. We would definitely frequent Lake Michigan in the summer where the water is as aqua as the Caribbean and the white sand is so pristine it’s hard to believe you’re NOT on vacation. We would check out downtown Holland or Saugatuck or Grand Haven and walk around shops and check out local restaurants or breweries. I also love to hike so heading to a beautiful trails around us would be on the itinerary.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think so often we just expect that our moms are the ones who do all of the things for us – no matter how old we are. And when they don’t do the things we expect them to do, we feel it more than we like to admit. Moms get the blame for not packing a school lunch, not remembering the doctor’s appointments, not cleaning up the high chair after a meal. But do we ever stop and think about all of the things moms ARE doing daily for us that go unrecognized? Haircuts are booked, uniforms are laundered and ready, Christmas presents are wrapped for their kids’ teachers, dinner is prepped, fridge is stocked— all after a full work day. Even moms who are lucky enough to be grandmas are still FaceTiming with their grand babies so that their son or daughter can get something done in the house. My mom is one of those superwomen. She’s inspiring. She’s hardworking. She’s humble. She’s irreplaceable. She’s an incredible role model both in a parenting capacity, but also from a professional standpoint. I strive to help other households run as efficiently as ours growing up. I have so much gratitude for my mom.
