Meet Carita Miller

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carita Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carita, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind CM2 Entertainment’s success is authenticity. We center artists, treat them fairly, and create opportunities that honor Detroit’s music legacy while pushing it forward. That mix of trust, creativity, and professionalism is what keeps people coming back to work with us.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been all about building bridges between artists, audiences, and opportunities. I run CM2 Entertainment, a music management and event planning company that focuses on developing independent talent and creating platforms for them to shine. What sets me apart is that I’m not just interested in “putting on shows” — I’m invested in making sure artists are treated fairly, compensated properly, and given the tools to advance their careers.
I’m most proud of my current artist roster — Ari B, Sam Watson, Ishii Qash, and Asaka the Renegade — because they represent the heart of Detroit’s creativity and the future of music. Helping them grow and positioning them for the big stage is something that truly excites me. I’m also proud of the partnerships I’ve built, especially with organizations like IBA Detroit, where I’ve been able to produce events that not only celebrate local talent but also drive economic and cultural activity in our neighborhoods.
The path hasn’t been easy. Like most entrepreneurs in music, I’ve faced setbacks — from navigating limited resources, to proving myself in an industry that often overlooks independent voices. I overcame those challenges by staying consistent, building relationships, and leaning on mentors who reminded me of the bigger vision. Every “no” pushed me to refine my approach until it became a “yes.”
The biggest lessons I’ve learned are:
Authenticity matters. People can feel when you’re genuine, and that’s what builds trust.
Relationships are currency. Success in this business is as much about who believes in you as it is about talent.
Keep learning. The industry changes fast, but if you stay flexible and keep growing, you’ll always find a way forward.
What I want the world to know about me and CM2 Entertainment is that we are here to honor Detroit’s legacy while creating new pathways for artists to thrive. We do this with integrity, creativity, and a vision for community-centered growth. My story isn’t just about building a company — it’s about building an ecosystem where local talent gets the recognition, respect, and opportunities they deserve.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Detroit Music Itinerary — 7 Days of Sound
Day 1: The Legacy of Live Music
Kick off with the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre (season permitting) to experience Detroit’s outdoor concert vibes. Later, enjoy dinner and live jazz at Cliff Bell’s, one of Detroit’s most iconic clubs.
Day 2: The Avenue of Fashion
Spend the day on Livernois Avenue, Detroit’s creative corridor. Support local shops, and — if timed right — catch a neighborhood music event like Light Up Livernois. End the night at Spot Lite Detroit, a hub for vinyl culture, DJs, and live sets.
Day 3: The Motown Museum
Dedicate this day to the Motown Museum, walking through Studio A where legends like Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, and Marvin Gaye recorded. Explore exhibits on Motown’s influence on global music, then wind down with an intimate set at The Aretha’s Jazz Café.
Day 4: The Underground & Independent Scene
Dive into Detroit’s independent sound:
Catch an emerging artist showcase at The Loving Touch or El Club, two of the city’s most vibrant venues.
Explore the underground hip-hop and neo-soul scene at Spot Lite or Miss Eva’s Detroit, depending on the night.
If timing works, see a CM2 Entertainment artist — Ari B, Sam Watson, Ishii Qash, or Asaka the Renegade — live in their element.
Day 5: Motown Legends’ Homes
Tour the historical homes of Motown greats — neighborhoods where artists like Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, and Aretha Franklin once lived. Pair this with local storytelling about how Detroit’s neighborhoods shaped the sound of a generation.
Day 6: Gospel & Soul Sunday
Spend the morning at a historic Detroit church with a live gospel choir. Follow with Sunday brunch accompanied by live soul or R&B music. Evening vibes at Flood’s Bar & Grille or a gospel concert if available.
Day 7: Eastern Market Music Walk & Local Showcase
Close out at Eastern Market, where murals and live street performances turn the district into a giant cultural stage. Browse local vinyl vendors and connect with Detroit-based musicians. End the trip at a local music showcase or open mic night — a chance to experience Detroit’s next wave of talent in an intimate, grassroots setting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a huge shoutout to the people and organizations who have been a part of my journey so far. First and foremost, my mentors — the ones who have guided me, challenged me, and helped me see what’s possible when you stay committed to your vision.
I also have to acknowledge my incredible artist roster — Ari B, Sam Watson, Ishii Qash, and Asaka the Renegade — who trust me with their careers and inspire me every day with their talent and dedication.
I’m grateful to IBA Detroit, who have welcomed me as a partner in event production and shown me how powerful it is when community organizations and creatives work together.
And finally, to everyone who has believed in me — from the earliest stages until now — thank you. Every bit of encouragement, support, and love fuels this work and pushes me to keep building something bigger than myself.
