We had the good fortune of connecting with DarNisha Hardaway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DarNisha, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent I strive to work hard at what I do despite the circumstances. Grit is often thought of as an intrinsic trait and it cannot be taught. However, grit can be instilled through leading by example. Children will complain and balk due to being tired or longing to sit in front of social media/video games. When the time comes, children will follow the example given to them.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This day and age you do not find many who aspire to be a housewife! My husband did not want anyone else to influence our children, so I put my Associate’s in Science aside along with a Certified Nursing Assistant so I could take care of our children and home. My trials include battling Lupus and heart failure all while learning to bake and sew. As long as you stay focused on your goals and not allow life to drag you down, hard work will pay off!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to eat a great steak, so Sexy Steak or Black Rock would get the party started. Next, we could go downtown and see Comerica Park, Ford Field, and Little Caesar’s arena. Hang out at Great Lakes Crossing, the largest mall in Michigan! Then we can go International with a trip to Canada.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my success to my family because we work hard to produce the products we make. My husband works long hours and manages to still help with the preparation of many products. My daughter helps to produce many products and gets things set up to make the labor seamless! We all pitch in to make the dream work!
