We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Bowman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
One of my favorite books I’ve read is “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coehlo. It’s had a significant impact on my outlook on life. It’s one of the reasons I chose to move from Minnesota and start from scratch in Michigan.

The idea in the book of paying attention to omens and embracing the journey we’re on is something that’s resonated with me on a deep level. Especially as an artist and creative this is something that I’ve tried to implement into my daily awareness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
BowDizz is my artist-name. My music can be described as lyrical rap delivering meaningful lyrics typically over jazz influenced, boom-bap and lofi type of production.

Inspired by artists such as Mac Miller, my music showcases self-awareness, self-exploration, vulnerabilities, and honesty in his lyrics.

I’m most proud that I landed a support spot on tour next month. I’ll be hitting 5 cities on the east coast with Dylan Reese and Dylan Owen. This is my first tour as an artist. It’s always something I’ve dreamed of doing.

I got to where I am today from years of hard work. It has never been easy but nothing that’s worth chasing is easy. I’ve overcame the obstacles by reminding myself why I started making music in the first place and staying in love with the process of creating.

What I want the world to know can only be found within yourself. I hope by listening to my music and experiencing my journey it will motivate others to find their own path and follow their own omens.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to Bell’s Brewing, and hopefully there would be a cool concert we could go to in the back room. They have an amazing venue attached. We would also have to make a trip to the beach in South Haven since it’s less than an hour away. We’d have to get food from Hopcat, and also Condado Tacos. You can’t go wrong with either of those places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I had a good friend who passed away 5 years ago, who left a significant impact on my life and story. Losing him has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. He truly believed in me and was a core supporter of my music and brand when I got started. I know he wanted me to pursue my dream as an artist, and I keep following my dream for him.

Love you, Alex Noben.
