We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Spencer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting our business was about solving a problem that would help many people. Being included with those who dealt with this problem, for us, it was about how to change it, how to help, and how to build up our community all in the same process.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
BeautyGoGo is building a platform that automates the beauty industry. By digitizing the inventory of local beauty supply stores, we are providing AI assistance to managing their inventory and making it available for on demand delivery. This gives local store owners a new stream of revenue by also saving consumers and stylists time by having essential items available for on demand delivery.

It’s never easy building a company. The idea, that’s what easy, but going out and validating it, building the company, marketing and generating revenue is the part that takes focus and execution. What made it easier was building the right team and leaning on other founders in our ecosystem for guidance and advice. One thing about Detroit Founders is that we don’t gatekeep. One person’s mistake is shared so that other’s don’t make the same one. That type of support from the programs offered here, the mentorship and fellowship is what helps overcome challenges that come along the way.

What I want the world to know about our brand and our story is that we are building a tool for the community we love. We want to bring automation and innovation into a current manual process with Beauty Supply Store Owners and we want to save consumers and stylists time in the chair or give time back by giving on demand access to products not sold mainstream.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Michigan it would definitely be dependent on the weather! LOL! Our fall and winters are beautiful, but the spring and summer give so many options to be outside and enjoy our downtown Detroit festivals, The Detroit River Walk, which is one of my favorite places to visit. I would also recommend visiting Central Michigan Station or going by The Lip Bar and grabbing a few favorite cosmetic items and stopping by one of my favorite places to eat – Green Dot Stables. Detroit brings so much excitement and opportunities. It’s definitely worth a visit!
