Meet King Bethel | Singer/songwriter, poet, music producer, musician, actor, motivational speaker, and mentor
We had the good fortune of connecting with King Bethel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi King, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risk equate to how much you trust yourself to succeed. Low risks have low results and low backfire. As opposed to taking high risks that have high results but have high chances of backfire. This matters because if you truest believe in yourself and how much you work and dedicated to your craft then why not take high risks. Average people have average lives, homes, friends. Above average people have all of those things but they have more of it or a better quality because their above average.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a musician from Detroit Mi, and as a musician I feel my job is to share with the world how I view it and I live it because a creator’s job isn’t to create for themselves, it’s more so to share. In my music I have this message where love is the answer to the world’s problems but the lack of love is the problem. This is the message I write about in most of my music and this is because I feel this is what the world needs to heal. This is how I want to impact the world, not just my community, city, or state…but the world. My goal in s to be a pioneer in the music industry. I want people/future generations to view me as a role model and influence like my role models and favorite artist do. I will do that by influencing the world to love.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Garden bowl is always fun, it’s a nice bowling alley and I always have a good time when I go there. The avenue of fashion/Livernois has everything you want from fashion, to food spots, salons, and more. The Coney off evergreen is my favorite spot to eat, they have the best chili cheese fries, and chicken pitas, and not every Coney Island can do that. The riverwalk is a great spot to relax chill with the kids and vibes in the background. It’s great for riding bikes, first dates, and second dates.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I must thank God for my life, journey, because this is the path I want to live happily and God is allowing me to do that. I also want to thank God for failure and negativity because we wouldn’t realize how great the good is and how much better the success is. I want to give all the thanks to my mom for being the first to recognize my gifts and being the only to believe in me even when I knew nothing, because she knew that successful people aren’t born, they’re made, so I want to thank my mom for that. I want to thank my dad for paying for everything. Without him I wouldn’t be able to do half the things in my life that make me happy. I love to thank my former choir teacher and director Ms. Angela Kee. She brought the King you are asking to fulfill this interview. Without her I would still be figuring out who I wanted to be.
