We had the good fortune of connecting with Lana Eloshvili and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lana, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I believe a clear “work-life” balance doesn’t exist for an artist. The creative process isn’t a routine job; it’s a deep, personal process. It’s connected to a search for deeper meaning, observing the world, and expressing it visually. Often, inspiration hits at the most unexpected moments—whether it’s day or night, Saturday or Monday.
From this perspective, an artist’s life and creativity are intertwined. There’s no sharp boundary between “work hours” and “personal time”—one often blends into the other. However, it is also important for an artist not to stop, not to dwell on negative thoughts, not to fall for the propaganda of today’s fast-paced life, but to seek freedom through their art.
An artist’s inner discipline is far more than just time management; it’s a natural outcome of self-awareness, freedom, and a love for one’s craft. When an artist understands who they are and what they want to express, discipline isn’t a duty—it’s a joy. It becomes the very path they take to express their ideas and emotions without limitation. In this way, discipline sets them free and enables them to create true art.
Ultimately, I think balance for me is more about inner harmony than a precisely calculated division of time. This harmony comes when I feel I’m finding myself in my creative work, and through that, I gain the strength that gives meaning to other areas of my life.
I’ve had the experience of working in a corporate office in a different field, and it was very difficult for me to accept myself during that time. Creating art was my natural state, but I didn’t have enough time for it. The only thing I tried to do was incorporate activities that would help me restore the energy I expended throughout the week.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My inner metamorphosis and transformations are an integral part of my personality. I believe this dynamic quality led me to art, as I find harmony in the world precisely through transformations.
To convey thoughts, I often use symbols, but to express emotion, I fully trust experimentation. Most of my works are filled with experiments, as I freely follow inspiration without a preconceived plan. My unique style was born quite unexpectedly—one morning, when my canvas only had colors applied, light beams streaming through the window highlighted the colors in different tonalities. I intuitively followed this very ray of light, and that’s how my distinct style was born, which I’m now developing into series. One could say that a specific sunbeam became the inspiration for an entire series. My works are created with a quite unique perspective; often, you might discover things in them that I hadn’t intentionally planned or anticipated.
My path hasn’t been easy. Although I always felt a talent for painting, society’s view that it’s “not a profession” pushed me toward architecture. However, my heart still yearned for painting, and despite the skepticism of my lecturers, I transferred to the Faculty of Painting.
The biggest challenge was balancing my studies and finances. In parallel, I learned graphic design and became a successful UX/UI designer, often painting at night or on weekends. My teachers’ support was invaluable.
A turning point came when I realized career success was overshadowing my true calling. This was a critical moment when I understood I was “losing myself at the cost of stability.” This realization prompted me to abandon my established career and dedicate myself entirely to art. The recognition received during my bachelor’s thesis presentation further confirmed I’d made the right decision. Standing before the canvas feels far more special to me than sitting in front of a computer.
Along this journey, I’ve learned that the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the deep inner freedom and clarity I find during the creative process. My works are a reflection of myself. When I’m in front of the canvas, the outside world fades from my memory, leaving only a spiritual space.

I want my works to possess a similar power for others—to bring them peace, beauty, or pose questions that will lead them back to themselves. I believe art isn’t just an expression of personal emotion; it’s profoundly human. It can awaken others, inspire them, or offer a moment of introspection. That’s why I’m active on social media, as I’ve realized an artist’s responsibility is to share their vision so that everyone feels art belongs to them. Being active on social media has opened numerous opportunities, not just building a dedicated audience, but also receiving many compelling offers, commissions, and collaboration proposals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our trip, of course, would begin in Old Tbilisi. I’d show them Narikala Fortress, from where an incredible panorama of the city unfolds. Then we’d wander through the narrow streets with their ornate, colorful balconies, which tell their own stories through time. My series of artworks in my distinctive style are primarily inspired by views of Old Tbilisi, so I believe these places would make a special impression on them. At the end of the day, we’d definitely taste traditional Georgian dishes in a cozy restaurant and relax in the sulfur baths, perfecting the authentic Tbilisi experience.

Our next stop would be Kazbegi – a symbolic place where the creative power of nature converges. The views here are so impressive that merely looking at Aivazovsky’s painting called “The Gorge” immediately fills you with awe. We’d ascend to Gergeti Trinity Church, which is especially striking against the backdrop of the Caucasus peaks.

Next, we’d travel to Khevsureti, which is particularly picturesque and beautiful in autumn. Visitors here will find ancient fortified villages like Shatili and Mutso, where time seems to stand still. These places are true open-air museums, with their stone towers and legends that echo in the mountain air. Here, we could taste local, handmade cheese and khinkali to fully experience the charm of the mountain culture.

Our adventure would continue in Svaneti, where ancient Svan towers reach towards the sky, seemingly preserving centuries of history. This is where Georgian mountain culture is preserved in its most untouched and mystical form. We’d explore Mestia, and if time allowed, we’d journey to Ushguli as well – Europe’s highest continuously inhabited village, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

After Svaneti, we’d dramatically change our surroundings and head to the Black Sea coast. I’d show them how much beauty this small country possesses simultaneously – how we can go from mountains to the Black Sea in just a few hours. Batumi’s boulevard, beaches, and the energy of the seaside city would provide a wonderful conclusion to our diverse journey.

Of course, if we had the opportunity, we’d definitely go to Abkhazia together, which is currently occupied by Russia. Everyone knows it’s a paradise on Earth.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest shoutout goes to my mother. She’s also an artist, and she was crucial in awakening the artist within me. While she never taught me how to paint, she taught me the most important lesson: how not to give up as an artist. She showed me how to find inspiration in everything and how to make ordinary things extraordinary. Her love for art Is infectious, and because she let me find my own way, we have two very different, yet authentic, styles.
