Meet Molly Baker | Home Stager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Baker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say that the most important factor behind my success is the support I had from my family, friends, and mentors. Even when I felt like I was moving slowly or going nowhere, there were people to lift me up and motivate me to continue going. I had amazing mentors who helped me with forming great connections, solving problems I never thought of encountering, and pushed me every day to do my best work. Without them, my business would not be where it is today.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my staging business a little over a year ago. Since then, I have dedicated my spare time to growing this business. Something that sets me apart from other home staging companies is the fact that I offer a cleaning service prior to staging. Most realtors have to use two separate businesses and contacts, one for cleaning and one for staging. By offering this service, it makes it quite easier on the realtor in terms of scheduling these two services as it can now all be done through one contact – me!
I have been able to succeed so far only by the help and support of my family and friends. They have pushed me to continue growing this business and have provided helpful feedback along the way. There are aspects of this business that have been tough to overcome, but having the right support group around me made it all worth it.
I’ve learned many lessons along the way, but the one that has impacted me the most is that it’s important to not define your success by the amount of money in your bank account. Success is more of being happy with where you are and pushing yourself to improve, always. It’s knowing that you get to help people and make an impact. Success is loving what you do and being able to do that every single day.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start off with getting a coffee and some pastries at Le Bon Macaron and then walking them around Cherry Street! There are so many options to shop there. Like Commune, Gemini Handmade, and Windsor Cottage. Then, we would stop at Social Misfits for some bangin’ waffles and more coffee and drinks! Another must stop is Frederik Meijer Gardens for an art-filled afternoon. Another fun place to stop is Fulton Street Market, Schuil Coffee and the numerous bookstores located in Grand Rapids. For dinner, Tupelo Honey is a must have for some great southern food and drinks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my father, Brad Baker. He has been a realtor in the Grand Rapids area for several years and encouraged me to start this business. He has helped and guided me along every step of the way. I could not have succeeded without his help, love and support.
