Meet Sydney Marie | Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydney, what do you attribute your success to?
I truly believe my success has came from having great communication with my clients. Being in the wedding industry, 95% of my clients have never been married and some have had very little experience with weddings. I am always there to answer any questions they have at any point in the process and also to give helpful tips and insight that they might not have access to.
Just looking through some of my reviews on Google, “Sydney is the most organized, detailed and thoughtful business owner and got back to us promptly each time from the first inquiry to the photo delivery” and “The entire experience, from first meeting to sharing photos with us has been incredible. Her attention to detail is what sets her apart from others.”
I honestly value and care so much about each and every one of my clients, and I want them to have the best wedding possible. Taking the time to get to know them, listen to them and communicate with them over the course of their wedding planning process shows them that I care and value them and their love.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As a wedding photographer, my style of photography is very much focused around candid, true to life moments. The photos I deliver are edited in a way that keeps the vibrant colors of the day that give a timeless feel for years to come. I never want my clients to feel like their photos are dated or don’t represent what their wedding day felt like. I feel like this is something that really sets me apart from other photographers. I’m also very hands on and invested in my clients, making sure that we are getting everything they are wanting for their day.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love West Michigan! There are so many amazing places to eat, to shop and so many fun activities to do. Starting with my favorite breakfast/lunch places, Brunch House in Muskegon and Morning Star Cafe in Grand Haven. Both restaurants are locally owned and are hands down some of the best places in the area, I always recommend getting there early on the weekends! For daytime activities, I love going downtown Holland and Grand Haven and checking out the local shops and making my way to the beach to relax. Anytime I’m in Holland or Grand Haven I have to stop at Garsnett Beacon Candle Co. to smell all the wonderful candles they offer, and to pour my own with a friend. A few of my favorite dinner/drink spots I love in the area are Rolling Stone Wood Fired Pizza in Muskegon, their pizzas are so unique and tasty – my personal favorite is the Lox-n-Crust! Rake Beer Project in Muskegon, Burzurk Brewing Co. in Grand Haven, Beefy’s Burger Shack in Spring Lake, Paisley Pig in Grand Haven and if we’re getting dressed up I love Finn’s Steakhouse in Spring Lake.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Over the past 11 years, I’ve had so many amazing people supporting me and my business. From family, friends and others in the wedding industry, it’s truly so heartwarming to know how many people care about me. I personally want to give a shoutout to my business coach Chelsea Abril, who’s been there with me through Covid and has helped me in so many ways. I can’t thank her enough for helping me grow my business, set goals and set boundaries to keep me away from burnout. I also want to thank my two best friends in the photography world, Patty and Elise. Thank you both for always being there for me with your love, support and encouragement. It’s so nice to know that in our industry, we can have friendships that reach far beyond being work related, and I can’t thank you both enough.
