We asked some of the city’s rising stars to reflect on what made a difference in their journey. We asked them to tell us about what they think the most important factor has been behind their success.
One of the most (if not the most) important factors behind my success has been consistency. Being a creative I learned a long time ago no one really cares how good or talented you are, but how consistent can you be in your craft. The most important factor that I can attribute to the success of my business is the community around me. Surrounding myself with people who want to see my business succeed not only motivates me as an artist, but it also drives clients into the door. I have found that having meaningful connections with your clients can harbor repeated clients and new clients alike. The most important factor behind my success has been my genuine care and attention to each client’s individual needs. Whether it’s through massage, yoga, or creating a custom made Mala, I take the time to listen and understand what each person is seeking. I’m genuine, and I believe that’s what drives my success. I don’t strive to be anything or anyone else but Miles Naasir. While being a filmmaker can test you in many ways, I have always ensured I stay genuine to myself and my goals. I think what commonly separates many people in terms of success boils down to the type of person they are. While I always hold kindness and respect for folks I come into contact with, whether in work or passing, I don’t wear a face that changes depending on whom I talk to.
