Notably, the “standard” composers for flute (e.g., Berbiguier, Anderson, Moyse, Tafannel, Gaubert, Altes, and Bitsch) are no longer living. Prominent living composers for flute, including Valerie Coleman, Shulamit Ran, and Adolphus Hailstork, create pieces with professionals in mind – these are only technically achievable by very few advanced high schoolers. The hardest choice I have ever had to make was to move abroad and start over in a place where I had a reputation and a professional career. I had to be patient, have faith, and unlearn as well as unfold and learn.

I decided to pursue a creative path through photography because it allows me to express a deep, personal connection to automobiles while sharing the unique way I see them—their design, character, and the stories they hold. It’s not just about capturing cars; it’s about immersing myself in the rich culture surrounding them. Photography offers me the opportunity to reveal the passion and history each car embodies, and conveying that to others is incredibly fulfilling. I still struggle with this sometimes, as a mom, wife, and therapist/entrepreneur finding the balance between work and life feels like another role on top of the ones I already have! It took time for me to learn to pause the therapist part of my brain while I was at home and with family. Now that I am a Mom the opposite has happened, quieting the mom part of me while I work with my clients is now a part of my work-life balance. Read more>>
