Our city is home to so many incredible businesses and so we asked the founders how they came up with the ideas for their businesses and have shared their responses below.
In 2014, I returned to school, so that I could find purpose. I wasn’t really sure what to study, I just knew, there was a purpose in my life that was not being fulfilled. One evening after work, I went into deep prayer and meditation. I had a deep conversation with myself and heard a word from God, and that word was “nutrition”. so I decided to obtain my bachelors degree in Health and Wellness. At the time, I was being treated for hypertension and being prescribed a regimen of treatment to control my blood pressure, with two medications, not to mention I was nearly 45 pounds overweight, which would be better described as obese, according to the BMI Chart for a person 5’2 weighing nearly 180 pounds. The idea for my business, Conrad Signings LLC, came from a desire to create a career that allowed me to balance my love for customer service with the flexibility to be present for my family. The Market Made has had several different iterations; and the key element to what it has become today is listening, watching, and taking notes. My company’s journey has been unique because it was not created around a good idea, but around the idea of being a good business. During the pandemic, I lost my management career due to being high-risk to Covid. Since I cannot sit still, I started a YouTube channel about our home projects and DIYs. An artisan market organizer and local boutique saw my channel and asked me to make my own collection for them. In 2021, I participated in 7 art and craft shows over the year and worked with several different mediums (woodworking, sublimation mugs, clay, concrete, and more). Read more>>
