I think I’m still working on this.
I went back to tattooing when my daughter was a year old and found you can rarely be good at everything at one time. It’s hard to balance running a business, being a parent and finding time for yourself. It’s important to give yourself some grace. I’ve found things that work better for me over the years. If I am being honest, I knew from a young age that entrepreneurship was eventually going to be my path. My dad’s family created and owned a series of clothing stores in Rochester while he was growing up, and being surrounded by the old store signage, hearing the stories, and seeing the pride that came from it really lit that fire for me. The idea of starting my own business was born from my own struggles with women’s health. I had emergency surgery at the age of 13 to remove a ruptured cyst that was twisting my ovary. After that I was told I had to be on hormonal birth control to solve all my hormonal woes.
