We had the good fortune of connecting with Bill Tsatsos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bill, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always wanted to do something different from a gin & tonic or a vodka & cranberry. I always looked at cocktails as art. A cocktail is like a canvas to me and I always made it colorful, presentable, beautiful and eye appealing. Therefore, I created cocktails such as a carrot ginger margarita, a vodka beet cosmo and a rosemary old fashioned. I started my business so I could showcase my artwork and take enjoyment in sharing that with others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Motor City Mixology LLC™ creates custom cocktails that are made with unique ingredients, made with specialty simple syrups and most importantly, made with love. I’m most proud of my repeat customers who are loyal to my brand and highly recommend my services to others. I also get excited when I’m requested to craft my cocktails to specific themes such as 80’s & 90’s parties. The lessons I’ve learned is to live life with happiness. Choose a career that makes you happy. When I was a Banquet Manager I was very unhappy and had to make a change. I had to redirect my focus on a new career where I could showcase my talent. That’s how my company was formed and it was the best decision I made for my happiness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would pick 3 areas, downtown Detroit, Ferndale and Royal Oak. For dinner, Pop’s Italian restaurant in Ferndale, it’s a charming restaurant with great pasta and calamari. For drinks, The Oakland and Valentine have a great vibe and some nice craft cocktails. Also, the Skip and the Standby are great spots in the alley way in downtown Detroit. Grey Ghost is also a great spot for food and drinks as well. For a nice latte, definitely Atomic Coffee in downtown Royal Oak.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my mother, Athina. It was my love for her that brought me back to Detroit, after a long run in Los Angeles, otherwise, Motor City Mixology would not exist. My mother inspired me to be greater and make the moves in life that would make me happy. She never doubted me for any decisions I made in my career and always believed in me.
