We had the good fortune of connecting with David Holowchak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was driven by a passion for golf and a desire to create a community where fellow golf enthusiasts could connect, share their experiences, and access valuable resources related to the sport by offering custom, unique goods and apparel, as well as design services. I always wanted to be self- made and work for myself instead of for an organization that doesn’t care about you or your real talents. I wanted to share what I could do with everyone and golf has been an obsession of mine for decades now. I love the game, I love gear, and I wanted to be a part of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In terms of my art or designs and ability to help customers make something for themselves as well, I think it really developed from a lot of rudimentary efforts like pencil and paper drawings, formal learning/ classes, and just a desire to create. My favorite part of the process is when someone tells me that something I created is impressive or they like/ love it. It validates any struggles or frustrations I may have experienced in its creation. I think if I had the world as my true audience, my creations and art/ designs/ products would speak for themselves. It’s getting that chance to showcase what I can do or have done and is out there is the hardest part. But once someone does take that chance, I’ve only ever had great responses from supporters and customers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town for a week we’re probably golfing several times during that stay and hitting breweries by night! We have here in Michigan what I call “Golf Kingdom” and some of the best local watering holes to boot. In terms of an itinerary, we’re probably jumping in a truck, loading up our golf gear, and on our way to northern Michigan to play some great courses and resorts. We’re hitting a number of places like Bucks Run, Arcadia Bluffs, Bahle Farms, Manistee National, Treetops, Ag- A- Ming Resort, just to name a few wonderful options amongst hundreds of others!
At night, we’re probably trying the local libations at a variety of macro and micro breweries like Founders in Grand Rapids, Greenbush in Sawyer, Beards in Petoskey, Stormcloud in Frankfort… again too many to name!
And we’re probably chatting away about our game, general golf banter, other experiences.
Golf really takes center stage for a lot of these types of events or happenings and it’s a lot of fun to take part in scrambles and games therein.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say my shoutout goes to my father. He bought me my first set of clubs at like 12 years old and took me to my first golf resort to actually play around that time. Been pretty hooked ever since then. He’s also where I get my artistry abilities from. He paints, he draws, he is an author. He’s a talented person. He brought me into golf and we still play together today. Golf has always had a place in my family and really brings my family and friends together like nothing else. I see people on the course that I normally wouldn’t see otherwise and that’s special. It’s also the only game I know of where you can consistently aim to improve and play for practically your entire life, health- willing.
