We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Vandewiele and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Everyone wants to do something they love as a career and I did not want to wait for it to happen I wanted to make it happen myself. This is one avenue that I hope to build to that level. There are a lot more bands out there now than ever and there are less venues and bookers. I figured I could make plenty of good shows happen with all of the awesome bands we have around.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The one thing that I take pride in is how hard I believe I work. I work my full time job like many others but, I am in 2 bands, I book and promote shows, and I record local bands. I have to make sure I have my priorities straight so I don’t miss anything. Music is every day for me and I feel that will help me succeed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take anyone over to City Burger in Warren and we can hit up a few venues or comedy clubs in Hamtramck or Detroit. Sanctuary Detroit, Diesel Concert Lounge, Corktown Tavern. There are venues 10-15 minute walks from each other so the nights never get boring. There is so much more food, venues and nice places to go downtown the options are limitless.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Family and a few select friends have given me un measurable support and I have to thank them. Specifically Nate Lewis and Matthew Chometa.
